Clarity Terms of Service
Last updated: June 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Clarity ("the Service"), operated by Clarity ("we," "us," or "our"). By creating an account, you agree to these Terms.
1. What Clarity is
Clarity is a financial stress prediction tool. It uses information you provide — income, expenses, goals, and optionally bank statement data — to generate forecasts and AI-powered insights about your personal finances.
Clarity is not:
- A licensed financial advisor
- A bank or financial institution
- An investment advisor
- A credit reporting agency
Forecasts and insights are generated by AI and are for informational purposes only. They are not financial advice. Always consult a qualified financial professional before making significant financial decisions.
2. Your account
- You must be 18 or older to use Clarity
- You are responsible for keeping your password secure
- You are responsible for all activity under your account
- You must provide accurate information — Clarity's forecasts are only as good as the data you enter
- One account per person
3. Subscription and payments
Clarity offers a free tier and paid plans (Clarity+ and Clarity Pro).
- Paid subscriptions are billed monthly through Stripe
- You can cancel at any time — your access continues until the end of the billing period
- We do not offer refunds for partial months
- We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days notice
Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card number.
4. Your data
- You own your data
- You can delete your account and all data at any time from Settings
- We use your data only to provide the Clarity service — see our Privacy Policy for full details
- When you upload a bank statement, you confirm you have the right to share that document
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use Clarity for any illegal purpose
- Attempt to access another user's data
- Reverse engineer or copy the app
- Use automated tools to scrape or abuse the service
- Impersonate another person or organization
6. AI-generated content
Clarity uses Claude (Anthropic) to generate forecasts, insights, and recommendations. You acknowledge:
- AI outputs are probabilistic, not guaranteed
- Forecasts are estimates based on the data you provide
- We are not liable for financial decisions made based on AI outputs
- AI models can make mistakes — always apply your own judgment
7. Availability
We aim for high availability but do not guarantee 100% uptime. We are not liable for losses caused by service interruptions.
8. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law:
- Clarity is provided "as is" without warranties
- We are not liable for any financial losses, even if caused by errors in the app
- Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim
9. Termination
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms. You may delete your account at any time. On termination, your data is deleted per our Privacy Policy.
10. Changes
We will notify you by email of material changes to these Terms with at least 14 days notice. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the new Terms.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Connecticut, USA.
